Checking PA Elk Preference Points??

Below is excerpt from Page 86 of the <u>2011/2012 PA Hunting & Trapping Digest </u>accompanying License. I know you call he PGC & check on how many Preference Points you have but per (BELOW) you can also check via PAL's System. I went into PAL's & find no info on my Preference Points Status(re prior years accumulation).

Anyone else have any luck cking online ...vs calling the PGC which ive done in the past???

Earn Preference Points! Beginning in the 2003-04 license year, unsuccessful applicants are granted preference points in future drawings. For each unsuccessful application, one point will be added to their record. When a hunter with preference points applies for an elk license, his or her name is added to the drawing an extra time for each preference point accumulated. Preference points are carried forward until anapplicant is drawn. There is no requirement that applications be made in consecutive years in order to retain preference points. However, you must apply in order to have your preference points used for a given license year. <span style='font-size: 17pt'>Hunters can check on the status of an elk application, and preference points (preference points earned for current license year will not appear until the day before the elk license drawing), by visiting the PGC website (www.pgc.state.pa.us) and clicking on “The Outdoor Shop.”</span>

It should show up on the "Permit" section but perhaps it's to early??

But IMHO you would think that you can see your acculmalated points?

Re: Checking PA Elk Preference Points??

If you call they will tell you you the number of preference points you have. There is no reason why it shouldn't be accessible to hunters as they apply. Afer all, they've got all of us on the system now with these new yellow tags.

You could accumulate Preference Points for 100 years and still not win an elk tag..The odds are against all of us...
