Quebec Bear hunt

Got some time today to post some photos from a recent fishing/bear hunt in Quebec Canada. As some of you might recall from some of my past posts I am friends with a house boat / campground fishing outfitter in Kipawa Quebec Canada. He gives us his bear permits / baits every other night for two weeks before we get there and then we DIY once we get there. This is my fifth bear (3 gun/2 Archery) in as many years. I harvested this bear 34 miles one way via ATV from our cabin. This is clearly not a hunt for the faint of heart with 70 to 80 miles of ATV travel on logging roads that are not maintained in remote areas. Itís not uncommon to see bear, moose, wolves and coyotes all in the same day.

Here is one that I left for another year.

Drove into a remote lake and carried a small boat motor and gas 200 yds down a trail and caught more Northern pike in one day than I have caught my entire life. We kept a few for a fish fry that included all the walleye one can eat.

This photo gives you an idea of the so called road that we travel on to get to our baits. The bait site is actually to the right of my ATV around a 150 yds walk down another trail. This gets pretty interesting when the sun goes down and you have to walk out by yourself.

Moose....shot this one with a 300 win mag. I try to use a different weapon every year. I have used a .50 cal inline / a 30-06 / and a bow using 2 blade rage bh on past kills.

ya Moose you are right....However, in truth, It actually may be a little too much considering the short shooting distances in the bush. Truth be told, I was going to archery hunt most of the week and had the 300 along for protection but a local fishing guide stopped by the camp and asked me fish a few days with him. as a result, I did not want to shoot late with archery equipemtn and have to drive back in the following day to retrieve the bear. That is why I used the 300.
