Lyman Lake campground is good place, heck you have a good chance of seeing a bear without ever leaving your RV.

I've stayed at the Army Corp of Engineers campground at Tioga Hammond Reservoir already. That's a nice place. Right off of Rt 15 north.

They close that in late October, I believe. In fact, they are now going to close off ANY access to the game lands thru that campground, from what I have heard.

Re: looking for campground fro bear season

I wonder why they would close it off to the game lands? Are they having problems up that way?

<a href="http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/camping/primitive.aspx" target="_blank">Primitive Camping

Primitive Camping is defined as overnight camping where all equipment is transported in limited trips by non-motorized vehicle methods and where a motorized vehicle is not located near or part of the camping experience.
Please view the Primitive Camping Guidelines and Ethics.

Virtually all State Forest lands are open for primitive camping

Link takes you to the rules page. Contact or visit the state forest you are interested in.

More towards what you are looking for:

<a href="http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/index.aspx" target="_blank">State Park Camping

A lot of the state parks are open for camping for hunting season. Bear and deer seasons included.

Find a state park in the area you plan to hunt. Visit the web site, and you can make an online reservation from there.

Warning!! Due to budget constraints, they limit the number of areas within the parks. The sites go fast! Plan ahead.

DCNR Hunting Info Page

You can register and reserve at any time from now until the time of arrival.

Note: Some camping services areas within parks have not been available during the late camping season. Budget concerns. Be early with reservations. </a>

Is your position a short term gain - or a long term loss? Separate the issues.
