have gone to old coverts in jacksonville pa in Indiana county, kittanning in armstrong, and butler and s westmoreland with a good brit and my flushes per hr =0.39 any one else having similar luck ?there are no grouse in sw pa.
I can remember 20 + flushes for a half day hunt in Washington county. Thoses days are gone. In th early 80's I had two brits and we did excellent on stocked phesants, woodcock and some grouse. I wish the younger guys could experiance those hunts.
I have wondered myself why the grouse are so down in SW PA recently. I use to flush alot of them in Washington Co. but haven`t seen one on many years. What do you guys think?
20 years ago, I could spend 1/2 a day in dogwoods and grape tangles and have 5-8 flushes/hr. easy.
I know my property inside and out and I'm not sure I could take you to a grouse anymore. There are a few there........very few. I see them occasionally. But to go out and actually find one on purpose......... good luck.
If you want to find good grouse hunting in SW PA you need to head to Somerset Co., lots up there.
