Umbrella Polypores???

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to mushrooms. The only ones I've eaten so far are the Sulpher shelfs(chicken mushrooms) & the bears tooth that I found last fall. This is what I believe to be a Umbrella Polypore I found growing near one of my stumps. They were there in the spring but I didn't catch them until they started to go bad.I'm just looking for a second opinion before eating it.I checked both of my books & I'm 99% sure thats what it is but still would appreciate the input.Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic I guess I need to get the camera out. Thanks Mike

Re: Umbrella Polypores???

Hi again I cooked the mushrooms the other night. It was the Umbrella Polypore which my book says is a close relative to the sheepshead.I cooked it with onions & garlic & made gravy & served with steak everyone loved it. Hope I can find more of these. Thanks Mike
