Another Mystery Berry

Everybody here is always so helpful and knowledgeable, I figured I'd see if anyone could help me ID this berry? (sorry for the poor pic quality - hubby snapped the pic in the dark at work with his cell phone) When he cut one of the berries open, it contains several small seeds and a deep red flesh.

Thanks so much!

Re: Another Mystery Berry

I believe we figured it out... Black Chokeberry. Any confirmations on that?

Re: Another Mystery Berry

My husband brought some home so we could actually look at them in daylight... the berry has maybe 4 or 5 small seeds inside.

Re: Another Mystery Berry

They look too shiny for huckleberries. They may be one of the viburnums, get a pic of the shrub they came from.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

Jenny,
Go to Google/Images and check out "Silky Dogwood" and "Red Osier Dogwood".

Re: Another Mystery Berry

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm still stumped. Looks like it could be a few different things. I'll ask my husband to try and get a pic of the shrub in daylight tomorrow when he's back on site. Thanks again!

Re: Another Mystery Berry

Hubby had the idea of ornamental pears. Do the seeds look like apple or pear seeds or berry seeds?
