Found some morel's today.. PIC ADDED..

Took a quick walk just before dark today to see if any morel's were up.. Found one nice sized one and also found a few very, very small one's... This was in New Jersey.. So this week while turkey hunting I'll have to keep an eye out for some more...

I'll be out looking later in the week.

Re: Found some morel's today..

Only problem is the undergrowth.. It's several week's ahead of schedule. It was like mid-may in the wood's. This rain will definately make them shoot up. So the next week should be the week to be out.. I just put a paper bag in my turkey pack...

Re: Found some morel's today..

same here...finding a handfull each time I go out, mostly small. Hopefully this wet weather gives them some more size. But the undergrowth is hampering my efforts for sure. They're tough to see without all the green stuff hiding them.

Here's a pic of the bigger one I found.. Not the best pic, but it will do... Now if only could have found about 20 more like this one...

Perfect example of a Grey. The greys don't get as big as the yellows of course, but they have tighter pits and are more firm. The greys are my favorite. Harder to see than the yellows though.

Re: Found some morel's today..

Found almost 900 hundred now. Some have been in the 6" tall neighborhood. I haven't spent a lot of time hunting them mostly while turkey hunting and a few short trips to my yearly hot spots.

I have been eating them for days...starting to freeze them now.
