Re: Honey mushrooms

I keep finding small quantities of old ones. I never seem to be in the right place at the right time to get a good crop of small tender ones.

Re: Honey mushrooms

Just returned from a hike looking for sheepheads & found enough of the honey mushroom for a meal. They are the early ones with the thick stems & golden color. I don't really care for the dark ones with the thin stems.
The only sheepshead I found was an old one by a dead oak that was left from last year. I marked the tree on my GPS & will get back there in about a week.

Old age and treachery ALWAYS overcome youth and skill!!!

Re: Honey mushrooms

I also found an old sheepshead. On a plus side I found about three good ones.

Re: Honey mushrooms

I found a bunch last weekend. Having never prepared them, I am looking for some ideas.

Keep 'em in the ten ring
