SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG. BLUE CRAB CLEANING PICS.

FIRST GET A GOOD HOLD ON THE CRAB AND REMOVE CLAWS...BE CAREFULL THESES THINGS HURT LIKE HECK


SECOND REMOVE THE REPRODUCTIVE FLAP

THIRD PUT THE TICP OF THE SHELL INTO SOMTHING GRAB AHOLD OF THE OPPOSITE LEGS AND SEPERATE THE SHELL FROM THE BODY.

FORTH REMOVE THE LUNGS ON BOTH SIDES

FIFTH REMOVE THE MOUTH PIECES

SIXTH HOSE OUT THE INSIDE THOURGHLY AND COOK.

nice...thanks! I never did ANY of that, we just tossed them in the steamer and let em rock. Never got sick from anything in there either, but the lungs and some of the yellow green stuff is pretty strong tasting

DANG you cut your nails short LOL...last time i cut mine that short i ended up with in-growns on both hands LOL Carry on

Aw, the crab butter is the best part, and you're hosing it out! I always just steam them whole too. I've had them done on the grill, too, but I think steaming them works better.

lol jason yeah i guess i do. yeah we clean them like that. i particularly dont care for the crab butter, just never had much of a taste for it. i prefer jsut the clean meat and a little bit of taragon vinagar. oh yeah and a whole lot of old bay.

I like cleaning them before cooking as well. We leave the claws on though ...all you have to do is stick em on ice for a while and they get real sluggish then you just rip the top off and proceed as listed above I always wear garden gloves too in case they get frisky but never had a problem. I can eat crabs either way but after having them this way if I can do it I prefer to clean before hand....

My dad used to clean them too prior to steaming, keeps the seasoning on the area you are eating...I dont clean them and just lick my fingers. A pictorial on how one cleans the meat outta of cooked crab would be good for all .....seen some real interesting techniques before.

frank, i never thought of that, i should take some pics of that also. i start by removing the legs braking the long section near the end and eat the meat out of that. next brak the body in half and with eath hafl pull the top and bottom apart and cleanign outthe leg channels....lol starting with the back flipper channel
