Sheepshead cleaning

Anyone have a good way to clean the sheep? Always gritty when I'm eating no matter how much I clean them.

Re: Sheepshead cleaning

I soak mine in salt water for 2 hours then remove and wash each petal. no problems with mine and no unexpected bits of bug

It may be a poor choice of words but I am smart enough to understand what you meant.

Re: Sheepshead cleaning

Being selective of what you harvest is the best way to limit the grit. I dehydrate nearly all the Sheep/Hens I harvest and the grit just pops out on their own like a zit under pressure as the shrooms shrinks in size and then the grit proceeds to falls harmlessly to the bottom tray that is filled with the give-away shrooms that folks are always buggin' me for. Kind of a two fer deal.

When dehydrating all you loose is the moisture and grit while concentrating the flavor....and they will last forever if sealed in glass air tight containers and stored in a cool dry area.
