The internet boom of the past 2 decades PLUS the spinoff of that boom, called FACEBOOK, has made mushroom hunting a huge part of many people's springtime, and fall fun. That never existed pre-internet. Nobody but the select few knew what a Morel was prior to that.

My guess, is most on this (and any other) board have never hunted a Morel until they were on the Net.

Yep, Leeks, Ramps, Wild Onions all the same. I don't know where the word Ramps came from I only ever called them Leeks. I picked a bunch yesterday and the wife made potato soup with Leeks in it. Tonight I had a Venison burger stacked high with Leeks natures bounty at it's best.

Feast of Famine.

2 evenings ago, feast. 115 medium sized yellers. Last evening tried a new spot, famine. Wellll, 15 Blackies, but put a good walk on for a meager few.

Reckon ya just never know. I've hit single trees that I've picked 60-70-80 from in one flush. Had my share of stinkers too.

Spring of 1959 I found my first morel with my to be father-in-law. He went by "when the oak leaves are as big as a mouses ear."

Must be nice to find 100+ in a single day Fleroo,I'm new to this sport( 2nd year) but having a blast.Almost like shed hunting. I didn't get the interest from any forum, I got the bug from my son. He moved to Rhode Island 5 yrs ago and started looking for fall mushrooms with a co-worker. He found a bunch of chickens and hens and when we went to visit he took me out. After that I figured I'd look around here and then he suggested we try for morels. Found 4 the first year and I'm up to 24 this year but burned a ton of boot leather

Picked 125 of them Sunday morning in western Washington county. This weekend should be good as well with any luck.

I see said the Blind Carpenter to his Deaf Helper as he picked up his Hammer and Saw!
