Nice, seems a bit early, but I guess the rains brought them on ? Always wanted to get out after them, but I don't do well in heat for the most part, and really don't know where to find a predominantly oak forest around here.

I hear you on the heat. I went right after daybreak this morning, actually while that
first wave of storms went through. (Greene Co). found a few more but I think tomorrow
will be better after all this rain.

Nice find.
I love mushrooms. My dad picked them all the time. Like a fool I never paid attention. The only ones I pick now are morels and the ones that come on my pizza.

Are Chant patches consistent year after year, providing the weather is right for them ? In other words, do you find them pretty much each year in the same place, or is it hit or miss, and you just walk until you come across them ?

Like I said, I'm not up on Chants, as the heat normally keeps me out of the woods.

this is the second year i found these in this spot. I started checking early because of all the rain
we were getting. i found them there in august last year just out walking. So I'm hoping that they'll keep
coming.

If the temps moderate some, I may get out to look in the mornings. On vacation for a while.

went out early before the sun started penetrating the woods. My wife and I did pretty well.
Same area. shrooms were a little larger this time.
