wild asparagus

Anyone harvesting wild asparagus yet? How about domestic asparagus? I haven't seen any yet.

Our roadside stands are selling fresh asparagus from their fields. I have not hunted wild asparagus in decades. Use to be I could walk down a country road with a paper bag and a knife and come home with a bag full. Now they spray the roadsides with herbicide so there is none and it there was I would't eat it.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

I found some by accident on a SGL on Saturday near Mifflinburg but it was already seeding.

Wouldn't have mattered, the only think you may pick on game lands are mushrooms and the fruit of berry producing plants.

It is too bad we can't find it along back roads anymore. It was the perfect place. Bird would sit on the wires and crap planting the seeds and the salt that was spread on the roads and thrown up on the road side by snow plows mad a great place for asparagus patches to flourish.

I do see it on a back road about a mile from me but they spray along that road everyday and i am a little fussy collecting and eating anything growing along a road.

Yep, I wouldn't pick it anymore even if I saw some.

We have had 4 meals already from our garden. Things seem a bit behind this year.
