Need an ID on a shroom

I don't have a pic ready, but I will soon. I found a bunch of cool looking shrooms on a damp forest floor, mixed hemlock/beech/birch/maple. They grow 4"-6" tall, small, thin stem rising to small "bell" looking heads that hang down from the stem. They are all a grayish color. I'll try to get a pic up tonight. If this description is known by anyone, please chime in!! I've seen this in mushroom lists before, but I can't find it today.

Re: Need an ID on a shroom

Bloodhound listed one of the best approaches. Thru that site I met with central pa mushroom club and got some exposure 1st hand. A couple were using AUDUBON FIELD GUIDE TO NORTH AMERICAN MUSHROOMS and Field Guide to Wild Mushrooms of Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic By Bill Russell. Bill Russell is/was a professor at Penn State and is part of the Central pa mushroom Club. There is also an excellent gentleman from Indiana County and a club located there. I don't recall his name.
Here are some of the Pa chapters on the center & western side of the state.
