Great info

If you haven't already, check out Adam Haritan's youtube channel, Learn your Land. He's from Western Pa and he's got some great videos on id'ing wild mushrooms and other wild edibles. His tree ID video for hunting morels is what put me on to them.

I did not understand the chemistry, but I did get the message. Great data and I will forth with stop spraying the D-Lions in my yard and harvest them for tea instead.
My mom used to make summer salad from young D-Lion leaves with vinegar and oil + bacon bits.
My dad used to make D-Lion wine and after a glass of this stuff you would not care about much of anything medicinal or otherwise. Hic.......

My Gram used to cook up the dandelion greens,she always picked them young,before the flowers sprouted. She would cook them with olive oil and some onions and bake it into a flat pastry with a top and bottom crust,on a cookie sheet. It was delicious,I wish I could taste that one more time!

Making that stuff is labor intense - if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago. We would go to a neighborhood cemetery and pick them flowers all day. I kind of recall that the green leafy cup around the yellow flower part needed to be removed. Not sure.

Yep. Clip off the yellow. 1 qt of yellow peddles to one gallon boiling water. Let sit 4 days strain and add the sugar and some yeast.

Hey Laylow, not to belabor this but my dad used to put in all sorts of citrus fruit too and when he made it he used a big plastic trash container that he had dedicated to this process. He would make gallons and gallons.....
One Thanksgiving all the relatives were at our house for dinner and as an after dinner drink my pop broke out this wine and the entire family ended up staying at our house until the next day. A good time was had by all.
Like all places we had to pay for special trash pick-up that was for oversize stuff. My dad would hide a gallon of his makings in the pile and the trash guys would show up as soon as he called and he never had to pay the fee.
I wish I had his recipe.
