I made some last week, Peel the loose shags of bark off the tree, take eneough to fill a 2-1/2gal soup pot. cover bark with water, and boil it for a few hours , strain out the bark, filter out particles, reduce to the quantity you want (looks like dark tea) add two cups of sugar to one cup of "secret hickory sap" Its awsome, very woody, smokey, hickory flavor.
