what kind of Nut ?

Shriveled up Chestnut Oak. Those and white oak are a deers favorite.

Thanks. I thought it might be some type of oak nut. There are Hare in this area but I'm not sure they would eat them. I've read hare will eat dead mice though.

Ive allways fun my dogs in pine trees or montafloral rose thickets, maybe ill have to start running him in oak flats.
