Mushroom "kits"

Has anybody tried those mushroom kits I see advertised? Some can be grown inside and some get done outside. Just wondered if they really produce, and what kind of quality/harvest to expect before I shell out the money. Here's an example;

They are cheaper on Ebay ... seem reputable.

Re: Mushroom "kits"

I bought a kit about 10 years ago,just the basic white mushrooms. If I figure in all the shipping,etc,I probably could have had 3 times as many mushrooms if I spent the money at the supermarket.

Re: Mushroom "kits"

I tryed a number of these kits thru the years and was only dissappointed. They did produce afew mushrooms, but nothing like what was pictured in the catalogs. I followed the instructions to a T, monitoring room temperature, tenting and misting. I'd say save your money and just buy them at the store; I could have bought about 4 pounds with the money spent on one kit.

Re: Mushroom "kits"

I bought a pom pom mushroom kit one time and it worked great. Followed directions and stuck it in my basement and they grew no problem.
