Oil painting effect

After seeing what a photographer had done with a landscape photo on another site I used two programs to create this oil painting effect on a shot I took this fall. The process is time consuming but a fun way to spend a couple of hours when nothing else is going on.
The process is best applied to landscapes, trying to do it with wildlife pics would drive me bananas.
I'm not even sure if it was worth the effort but what the heck ya never know when knowing how to do something will come in handy.

Its hard to see the brush effect in the pic above so I enlarged a portion of the photo to illustrate the final effect as seen below.
What do ya think?

Looks like a work on canvas . When I used to shoot weddings we did similar techniques . Very nice as usual Mr. Hemingway
