But I googled both and they look so similar the purple finch has a curved beak

so I figured that's what it is, but I could be wrong

Purple Finch are more heavily streaked then House Finch, also this time of the year it would be very unlikely to have Purple Finch at your feeder but not imposable.

Nature can teach us alot.
