Flash Drive =(

So while i was on vacation my flash drive decided to die. It just quit working. I've had it about 5 years and was unaware they just randomly blow up... I had over 12,000 pictures of the last 10 years on that flash drive and lost them all. The only pics i have of my vacation are the ones i took the last two days i was there. Guess i need to go out and start taking pics of everything over again, even tho some things i can't take pictures of again... =(

There's nothing like a day in the woods.....

Re: Flash Drive =(

Thats stinks! sorry for your lost... This time buy 2 external hard drive and put your pictures on both of them just in case one fails. or better yet keep all of them on Photobucket or some place like that.

Re: Flash Drive =(

If you can't recover them youself, try somewhere like Best Buy. They can send out drives and recover about anything. It may take a while, but you should get it back.

As Shartle said, I would save them on a free website. Don't rely on Facebook. It really shrinks the file down. They look good on the site, but when you save them from there, the file is tiny and worthless.

You can also burn a CD every few months. Maybe do one for every season of the year. For example..."Spring 2010."

I also do Snapfish photo books. I just keep filling one until it is out of space, print it and start a new one. Snapfish also allows you to store your photos for free.

Re: Flash Drive =(

does the connector end feel loose at all? If the solder joints or even just one snapped, it could be causing this. I've fixed a few over the years with that issue, just long enough to get the contents off.

Re: Flash Drive =(

I'm going to be sending it away as soon as i get it back from a friend. She works downtown and took it to see if anyone from her work could recover anything. No luck there. So hopefully this place can recover atleast some of the pics...
