So my wife's birthday is coming up, as is our 10 month olds. My wife really enjoys taking pictures and is very envious of the photos some of her family can shoot with their SLR's. I'd like to purchase one for her but am pretty lost. I've been doing a lot of reading and understand that the camera lenses has a lot to do with the quality and its not all about the camera body. I also understand what the IS and VR mean with lenses and the range of lenses (MM).
I've found a Nikon D3100 @ Costco (Seen here) comes with the Nikon D3100 Digital SLR, 18-55mm VR Lens + 55-200mm VR Lens, Training Pack Bundle which is a 4GB SD card, camera bag, and training DVD's. The price is right around $830 after tax.
Is this a good entry level camera for my wife? How is the price? Should I be looking else where? Costco has a pretty good return policy if she hates the camera or if for some reason it isn't up to par.
Be gentle photo gurus. And gun gurus, I know I could be spending this dough on a new firearm - but that will come in time!
Don't Tread On Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.
Yes that is a good starter set up! Its seem like a pretty good deal. You can check out B&H photo and Adorama and see if their price are any better they both got great customer service! If your doing shooting indoor with the baby you may also want to look into get a lens like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...mm_f_1_8G.html A 1.8 lens is great in low light.
