My local WMA

I had a little time Monday morning and this morning to hit the local WMA. Both days the weather was nice and i had a good time. I got a few rare for me shots and saw/photographed some new critters.

While not the best image, this is my best so far capture of a Baltimore Oriole.

I seem to like blue colored birds and today they came out to greet me...

Last year I saw one Eastern Kingbrid to photograph. This year I see them all the time...go figure.

While not a great picture, I now know what a female Bobolink looks like. They were busy catching bugs and showing each other what they had.

When I was young we saw a lot of these. But today they are not a common site anymore.

Last is one I am posting to see what it is. I have looked in my book and can't say for certain.

Re: My local WMA

I really like the blue grosbeak and bobolink pair!

Not only is my short-term memory horrible, but so is my short-term memory.

Re: My local WMA

take a look at the Eastern Wood-Pewee. I believe that might be what that last bird is.

Re: My local WMA

Skeller, i thought that also, but check this out.

http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/682...rn_Phoebe.aspx

scroll down and across from the "range map" there is a picture of them. Click on the second one.

The wood-pewee has a yellow lower mandible, that i cant see in your picture. It does have the white wing tips though

Re: My local WMA

Nope I was wrong...it is an Eastern Wood-Pewee. 2 white wing bars, yellow lower mandible. My first look was on my school laptop and the glare on that is terrible...looking hear at home certainly an Eastern Wood Pewee. Phoebe would have an entirely black bill, and it is a little shorter in comparison.

Catch-and-Release wild trout.
