This year on our way home from the Outer Banks, we took a detour into the Great Smoky Mountains. I was impressed with the scenery and the views, but mostly the traffic. It's certainly not a scenic secluded get away, but I think it was worth it.
Some views from the Clingman's Dome parking area. We arrived too late in the day to make the hike to the top, so I will be making a return trip at some point to do that!
Along with the scenery some of the best motorcycle roads in the nation. I ride that area every chance I get. (Not enough!) Pre Memorial day and post Labor Day the traffic thins until the leaves change in the fall. The Smokey's are awesome.
