Looking to buy a Nikon D5300...baseball action pic

I have been riding the fence and think I am going to pull the trigger and spend the money...Not sure on the lenses a
Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens
or
Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF

Looking to spend $700 on the bundle? Ideas Thanks

Re: Looking to buy a Nikon D5300...baseball action pic

I've been using my Nikon D5100 with the Sigma DG 70-300mm (borrowed from a friend) for field hockey pics and have been very pleased. Also use my Nikor 55-200mm with great results.

Below are some action pics, none of them are staged, all taken during game action. Actual pics of the girls are equally good (IMO), but I don't want post them publicly.

Nice...would you recommend the Nikor 55-200mm for action photos or to save up and buy the lens you used above..

I think the Nikor works great...the Sigma has more reach and also has a macro setting on the lens...so I would save up, but the Nikor does very well too.

Re: Looking to buy a Nikon D5300...baseball action pic

I am new to the photography world and I just bought the Nikon D3300 with the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm lens. I have been happy with it so far, but I am an beginner to all of this. I also bought a cheap High-Power 500mm/1000mm f/8 Manual Telephoto Lens on Amazon and for a newbie working a manual lens it's surprisingly not bad.

This guy was trotting away at around 200 yds. Taken with the 300mm auto lens

This pic was taken at around 400 yds maybe more with the cheap 500/1000 manual lens.

The f8 on your 500/1000 is really going to limit you bright days with lots of light. Highly recommend a tripod as well.

I am not up on the Nikon gear so not much help. Canon on the other hand.....

Yeah I knew that when I got it, but it was only $130.00 or so. I do use a tripod and remote otherwise I think it would be a blur with me behind the camera :-)

Cool. Other thing, especially out in Ystone, is the heat waves causing blur. No solution for that.

Re: Looking to buy a Nikon D5300...baseball action pic

The memory card can really slow any action shots? I bought a used camera and it took slow pictures and I was worried and the guy was like it just needs reset and cleared to factory. I tried some old cards slow and did some research as the cards are way to old and slow for the camera....what do you suggest for the Nikon D5300...Got camera and 2 lenses for $550
Nikon 55-200mm vr
nikon 18-55mm dx vr
charger +2 batteries and 2 older memory cards
case nikon
cleaner kit...
