Bird Feeders

I decided to put up some feeders in my yard this year so I could get some pictures of the wild birds in the area. Little did I realize that some of them I never knew they were around. Here are some:

Male House Finch

Female House Finch

Blue Grosbeak

Male and Female Goldfinch

Mourning Doves

Common Grackle

House Sparrow

Re: Bird Feeders

I have all them birds except the Grosbeak. Now and then there are a couple of crows who invade and act like a crew of pirates. I have a bird bath close to the feeder and it's a hoot to watch the doves and robins flailing around in it. Splish splash I was takin' a bath....just relaxin' in the tub.

Good night Chesty, wherever you are......

Re: Bird Feeders

I have never been able to attract hummingbirds. So this year I planted Cypress Vine in hopes is will entice them. Several years ago I visited Drake Oil Well and they had about 10 -15 of them little rockets behind the visitors center flying around feeders. BTW - Cypress Vine has a warning about it being poisonous so you need to be careful with it.

Re: Bird Feeders

I planted a Honeysuckle Vine last year for that reason but I don't think I'll see any flowers until next year.

Re: Bird Feeders

Moss I planted Honeysuckle about 10 years ago and once that stuff establishes itself - stand by for a full assault form an invasive plant. It went nuts and I had to pull all of it out.
