Spider

I have a son who is a entomologist so we are always on the lookout for bugs, spiders and other creepy stuff. We spotted this guy in a tree in my sisters yard. To give you an idea of the size of the spider the hole in the tree is larger then a baseball.

Re: Spider

What kind of spider is that??? I see them fairly frequently up at my camp. Some pretty big ones, but not that big.

Re: Spider

It appears to be a wolf spider and possibly a Carolina wolf spider but without hands on look I cant tell for certain. At first I thought it was a fishing spider but the web ruled it out. It is female and it is about to have a bunch of young'ns.

Re: Spider

My first thought was it is a wolf spider. It was very shy and would go back into its hole we I got near preventing me from getting a better photo.

Re: Spider

I was out walking the dog on a local GL.
down by the river I found a bunch of glass beer bottles in a fire ring.
finding trash is bad but I despise bottles being left as I worry for my dog as I went thru picking up the bottles I found this guy

the rolling rock cans and Newport boxtop give it good scale

Da hawk ate my baby!!
