Woodpecker?

I was walking out in the boonies last week and came up on the tree, about ten foot up this tree it looked liked someone had took a hatchet to it. but after seeing all the woodpecker holes on the tree I figured a woodpecker must have did it

Re: Woodpecker?

We have them around here and easy to find pics like your first group but not so easy to get a good pic of the bird, they're spooky. I have a few pics of them but its always at a distance thru trees. They make a very loud like a high pitched fast clucking and fly with an up and down swooping. They can really hammer up a storm.
