camera question

Alright, I'm not very familiar with digital cameras. I bought a small cheap one (Canon PowerShot) at the Goodwill store so I would have one to carry into the woods and along the streams with me. It's all charged up, but when I turn it on, all it says is "memory card error". I tried another card in it and does the same thing. Common causes? Is this something simple to deal with or did I waste $15?

Did you format the card?

Re: camera question

Nope, don't even know what that means. All I had to do to the other camera is stick the card in......

Let me try to tell you how to do it on your computer
put card in your SD card slot, and then go to Devices and Drive on my PC
the card should show up as F: drive, right click on it and go down the list to Format, left click on it and a box should come up and say Format no name F:, click start, then ok in the next 2 boxes, then close, take card out and see if it will work in the camera.
