First photos with new lens

Finally got my new 150-500 lens for the Nikon. Here are a few photos I took today under various lighting conditions.
So far so good I think?

Re: First photos with new lens

Thanks guys, just for experimental purposes I shot those in Fine JPG format rather than Raw. I'm kind of pleased with the results.
Time will tell.

Re: First photos with new lens

You never have a shortage of subjects that's for sure. Nice shots but they look a little soft. tripod or handheld ?

Re: First photos with new lens

All handheld Steve. If I ever use a tripod its my Bog-Pod and I avoid that if possible. Hate tripods!
Most of my shots are run and gun don't have time to fool around with one while my subject boogies off.

I hear ya on the tripod but ever since I got the Tamron 150-600 I've been forcing myself to use a tripod as much as possible. You really have to keep those shutters up without one when shooting at 400+ mm, IS/VR or not. I went to carbon fiber legs and a gimbal head and I actually prefer shooting the big lens that way now.

Good set up Steve, how do you like that Tamron? Thinking about one down the road.
