Outer Banks Trip Recap

I know I've already posted a lot of pictures from this trip, but there was ample opportunity for picture taking last week...here's a recap as best I could do:

We stopped at Great Falls National Park on the Potomac for a lunch break during our drive down. The view is amazing and I even found this broad-headed Skink:

When we got to our beach house, there was a pond in the back with friendly...and hungry....River Cooter (it's the type of turtle!). They loved cheerios, grapes, and hamburger!:

Got all the obligatory beach shots of birds, crabs, lifeguard chairs, and sunsets:

Spent some mornings photographing the fishing pier and the bears at Alligator River but you can see those pictures here: https://www.huntingpa.com/forums/ubbt...26#Post3359226 and here https://www.huntingpa.com/forums/ubbt...40#Post3359240 )

Then things got interesting when Hurricane Arthur made landfall and went right over top of us. To be honest, we slept through a lot of it, heck my 3 year old was mad he slept through it. It was certainly windy, but there was worse damage back home from T-storms then we had down there. I kind of wish it had hit during the day for some better pictures:

The storm did blow in a few Willets:

and forced the pelicans closer to shore:

Where's the fish??????????

I kill because I'm hunting, but killing is not the reason I go hunting.

Excellent pictures! Thank you for sharing. Those post-Arthur waves look very angry.
