Snake ID help

My wife and I were biking on the Pine Creek trail over the weekend and spotted this guy when my bike broke. I have no idea what type of snake it is and was hoping somebody here could help with the ID.

This... Mild venom but rear fanged, really no threat at all. I think they prefer toads anyhow. pretty cool snakes. Come in a variety of colors and will play dead some times when threatened and they are convincing. Here is a yellow phase I came across a couple years back.
