Red-throated Loon and PSO Trip

Saturday I had the pleasure of participating in the PSO field trip. We were supposed to go to Middlecreek, but with the ice we decided to run around the river checking for open water. We received a report of Ross's Goose with a Red-throated loon in Lancaster so we headed over there.

The Loon:

The 2 Ross's Goose were in here, but I couldn't get a good pic of them:

We also hit the river to take advantage of the Red-necked Grebe invasion. (they usually winter on the great lakes, but since they are frozen they have had to move south. We counted over 40)

Also got a few Eagles and other ducks and such:

I like that gold light on the bridge! I'm not seeing any red on the throat of the loon, i assume it's a female then?

Not only is my short-term memory horrible, but so is my short-term memory.

It's an adult in it's non-breeding plumage. they get their red necks in April or so.
