Burnt Ridge Nursery

Anyone have and dealings with this nursery. I was thinking about ordering some chestnut trees and crab apples. There prices seem reasonable. However, they are in Washington State.

I didn't see anywhere in their site what kind of rootstock their apples were planted on. What is the size like on your trees? I don't need standards but certainly don't want a dwarf either.

Re: Burnt Ridge Nursery

Burnt Ridge is suppose to be an excellent nursery. Very well thought of over at the QDMA forums.

Other excellent nurseries.

ACN
Cummins
St Lawrence
Century Farms
Stark Brothers

All the above are very well known and they ship top notch plants.

Re: Burnt Ridge Nursery

For Chinese Chestnut, I'd recommend.

Musser nursery
Virginia Dept of Forestry

For crabapple

The Wildlife Group - They have the varieties you want to plant.

Musser Nursery for American/Sweet(same thing) Crabapple.

Lawyer nursery for Whitney crab

I would recommend planting the above larger crabapples which are a known deer magnet rather than some of the smaller producing crabs like Sargent, Midwest and Siberian.

Re: Burnt Ridge Nursery

I always use semi dwarf, and always request m7 or m111 I believe, trees come bare root, after planting, they are about 4'high and about the size of a dime at 1" above the ground, maybe a bit smaller, my trees that I planted 3 years ago are about 6-8' tall they, maybe had 1 apple or two last year.
