Yes, referring to the salted fish that used to be available shrink wrapped at higher quality drinking establishments beside the little bags of chips and slim jims.
Friend of mine was overly excited about finding them at our local grocery store with a handful of fillets wrapped in a styrofoam tray, but they only get them once a year around Christmas. I found you can buy a 3 lb box from Wholley's in Pittsburgh, and I think they come from a shop called Morey's in Minnesota. Smoked herring fillets with a TON of salt. Have some ideas but wondering if anyone has ever tried to replicate. Not even sure where you would find herring fillets or what would be a substitute?
