I start with a standard size ball of pizza dough and turn it into a large rectangle that drapes over a baking sheet. I only fill one side, the other side folds back over later to become the top.
The filling can be whatever you want. I started with a heavy layer of the Sargento six cheese italian and covered that starting from one end with Italian sweet sausage till I got to the middle. At the same time I started bringing pepperoni in from the other end towards the middle. Then I just kept repeating until I thought the fillings were enough.
When I finished stuffing it I folded the other half of the dough over the fillings and pinched it together where it met the bottom layer of dough to seal it, and into the oven it went.
I baked it at 375 degrees and because it was overstuffed it took about 30 minutes to brown.
Like most of my recipes this one for Sausage Bread is very basic. If you want to try some other fillings go right ahead. Just let us know here how they worked out.
