Weston (Stay Away)
I wanted to throw a warning out there for all my sportsmen brethren. I bought a Weston grinder last season on sale at Field and Stream. This being the second season of use, it's probably seen about 80lbs of ground meat run through it. As I was finishing up my last 30lbs this season, I noticed oil had leaked into the auger area. How much? I have no idea how much made it into the grind. This being a newer machine, I decided to contact Weston customer service to see what they could do about the issue. I figured most companies that stood by their product would at least ask me to send it back to look over. Instead, I had an employee from customer service trying to talk me through disassembling the machine who really didn't seem to care about me getting it fixed. This back and forth took about 3 weeks until I was told I would need to wait until after the new year for her technician to return and answer further questions. Three weeks went by with no contact from them. I sent another email and I got the canned excuse "I'm having trouble with my email, sorry". She wanted me to schedule a conference call with her technician.
Now this process has taken 1.5 months and everything she asked me to check on the grinder had been checked. The vibe I got from their customer service was that they really don't care to help you with your product. I'm posting this with hopes that I can save someone else from bringing home a cheap product that isn't going to last long, and obviously the hassle of dealing with a company that doesn't stand behind their product. Next time you find yourself contemplating buying anything with the Weston name on it, set it down (or close your internet browser) and run away.
