I had one,Work great for cutting steaks,As for grinding meat? Slow I would rate it fair. When using the grinder every thing is turning. What I mean is even the big cutting blade. Since we don't eat round steaks I bought a 2hp meat grinder that gets the job done,Fast.
We bought a used commercial band saw (Biro 22) and grinder (Globe) back from a butcher resale shop in the 80s. The saw took 3x as long to clean when done than it did to cut up the deer and unless we were doing 4 or more at a time we just didn't use it. Eventually sold it and went to all boneless cuts but kept the grinder which we use regularly.
We found that we like the taste of the meat better and although we don't get as many steaks as in the past we end up with way more burger which we use more of anyway.
Yeah, I think I'll just look for a grinder. I'm good with most of my whole cut butchering, and not having a bandsaw hasn't been an issue, really. Just seemed a bonus if that combo unit was a grinder worth having. Reviews on it seem mixed at best.
I have one and haven't used it in 15 years. The grinder broke after a few uses. The band saw worked ok, but they are a pain in the butt to cleanup afterwards. Meat all over the place. I prefer to debone the meat anyway. I have a Cabelas Professional grinder and I bought an old Globe deli-slicer. They both work great.
