Homemade smoker

Looking to build my own smoker. Is it better to use cinder blocks or wood? Does it make a difference? I found some idea by googling it and see some people use cedar. Is cedar the preferred choice of wood if using wood? Any suggestions on how to build it, etc. It'll only get used once or twice a year but would like to build a nice one to last many years.

You can't bag a big one if your not out tryin

Re: Homemade smoker

If you don't need a ton of capacity, you might think about store-bought options? I got a Masterbuilt electric smoker at Cabela's. Between a sale and gift cards I had from holidays/occasions, I almost had no cash out of pocket to get it.

Did my first run with it for July 4 and smoked a pork butt, and my kids are bugging me to do another one already!
