So in my eyes those look like k9 tracks, not because the pad kind of figures to a point to where I thought a cat was more rounded like more of a circle. Maybe I need to learn track ID better !
If you have enough snow, tracking is a fun way to spend a winter day. I’ve spent hours following coyotes, fishers and my personal favorite....mink. Mink will meander around a shoreline of a frozen lake or creek, checking out anything and everything.
This one was a little harder to tell cuz it was just a cluster of old tracks, this was at a different location. I’m surprised I’m gettin into them this much if fisher is the maker of the tracks
It can take a while. I’ve seen where the woods were criss crossed with fisher tracks, and then you don’t see any for a week or ten days. With our short season, it’s beneficial to get some big baits out early to hold them in the area.
Fishers have claws that do not retract and will be noticed in tracks. Bobcats do have claws that retract and usually are not seen in their tracks.
You will be lucky to have a fisher work your sets more than once or twice due to our short season. Good luck!!
