Pennsylvania’s Early Blue Laws

Pennsylvania’s Early Blue Laws: A Quaker
Experiment in The Suppression of
Sport and Amusements,
1682-1740
J. T. Jable

This is a great and very enlightening read. Do yourself a favor, clear your mind, grab a favorite beverage and read the entire article. You won't get anything by skipping through, you'll need to read the whole thing. You'll be glad you did when you're finished.

I dug this up a couple years ago and forgot all about it.

Enjoy!!

I know it was a long read... but did anyone take the time to read it? Seriously, do it, very interesting stuff.

I hate to read stuff. Might make me too aware of things?

Hey, enjoy the last fifteen minutes of BDAY bliss.

On the subject of historical treatises, read an article once about how the colonial "eastern aristocracy" (probably in Virginia?) wanted to ban hunting on the frontier.

They were of the opinion that hunting discouraged men from acting civilized and also tended to rile the indians, who got upset about frontiersmen invading their hunting grounds and killing all their game.
