I have two. One is all Sycamore and one is a Sycamore box with a walnut (I believe) lid. They both run very, very well. Kip puts a great tune on 'em!!!
I have his trappers Tom taker call. It’s the best sounding call in my vest. A couple of my turkey hunting buddies have bought calls off Kip after hearing mine run.
So to update, got'em today. Look well made. You can tell a slight difference in the sound, each being made of different wood. Both sound good/smooth. I usually carry a call in the fall if I come upon a few to get them to turn my way. Never did the "bust up the flock" thing as sometimes I tote the rifle, sometimes the shotgun. So will have to try these.......can't let them sit till next spring. I figured who better to buy a call from to kill a PA bird than a PA turkey fanatic that makes his own calls and stands behind every one. Kip left me a message when they shipped and would take care of any issues.....doing business the old fashioned way!
I'm guessing these are probably better at callin' turkeys than I am at killin'em.
Went to Price Chopper to get mine this year.
Hard to make my mind up but ended up ordering Kip's Hardwood Wacker box call today. Seems it will be a good mate to my Cody Drop Dead 6.5 One Sider. Who knows...mebbie Kip's Hardwood Wacker will trump my Cody in this season's line-up!:smile2:
