NO I do NOT agree. You need to learn how to use an adblocker. I see zero ads on my computer or cell phone. Try Adblocker Plus and your problem is solved.

The more the ads increase, the less visitors to the site you will see. There are many folks that just want to come here occasionally and enjoy the conversation. They will not download more software onto their computer just to do it in an enjoyable manner. Maybe the regular visitors will, but the casual visitors far outnumber the regular visitors.

I hate to break the news to you, but this is a hunting site, not EBAY... People come here to talk about things other than trying to get vacation ideas for Europe.. And why do I need to install an ad blocker to come to this site?

It is stupid the amount of time it takes things to load due to the spam on here now.

The two responses to my suggestion for ad elimination truly show the computer illiteracy of some posters. In all probability the ads you are seeing are from cookies and software that you have installed yourself from sites your computer has visited. The internet is all about ads. That is how websites make money. Have you ever performed a search for a hunting related item (say a Yeti cooler) and all of a sudden you see ads for coolers. You installed that cookie by doing your search. I have visited sites that have a pop up stating I have an ad blocker installed. They cannot install cookies and shut me out unless the adblocker is disabled. You asked a question, I tried to answer. If you do not wish to take some advise don't ask the question. ENJOY YOUR ADS.

Pretty strong verbage from someone that doesn't know either of the people you refer to... The fact is most of the visitors here are casual. If their experience consists of ads all over the page, pop ups, slow loading etc.... a significant portion will not return much nor will they download other software just to make their visits more enjoyable, even though that is what you suggest.

If the new ownership is okay with that. So be it. The have to make money. The downside is less traffic.

Folks have been getting spam emails as well from "huntingpa" for some time now.

I am a total "techno-moron" But even I found it an easy , one time, download to put Adblocker plus, on my computer, thus letting me enjoy fast loading times and no annoying ads. Some people need to do a bit for themselves and quit crying about stuff. Casual or not, if a person has the time to get on here and read even just a few threads, then they have the time to do a one time download that only takes a few minutes, and then enjoy faster downloading with no ads. The adblocker plus works for your entire computer, so it will work on other sites with annoying ads, and believe me there are a lot of sites out there with those ads. And for the record, the "old" system had them too. I've used ad blocker plus since I joined HPA. No problems. If you really want to get on a site that says you can't because of your adblocker, it takes only a minute or less to turn off the blocker, effective for only that site. Now, that all said, I do feel that if there are ads, they should be related to what HPA is and stands for, not some vacation trip to some far off land, but since I don't see any of those, I really don't know what all annoying ads are getting on HPA.

Hey guys,

Are these ads playing video/audio while you are navigating the site?
As for ads on the site, we do not have much control over them unless you deem them intrusive, or inappropriate.
We can get rid of them, but that slot will be swapped with another ad.

While you navigate our site without any plugins that negate ads, ads will be visible on our site.

Richard.

I use a blocker and only see two banners at the top of the page and one at the bottom that don't interfere with the body of the page.

When you can not back up a post, try name calling. Brilliant. Again, I will say it so even you can understand... It is about the fact a lot of people visit this site, a HUNTING site btw, and if they were shopping for a Cooler, I am sure this is not the place for that or a vacation for that matter. I could care less about one more thing installed on my computer, but to resort to name calling is just showing your true colors. And as DPMS said, you have no idea who your talking to.
