my first mount

Went with the vandykes turkey kit to try my first mount. It was very easy and take no real skill to complete. You can order it from vandykes for around 70.00. I am happy with the way it turned out. I am still hanging on to my fox squirrel and hope he is not freezer burnt. I want to try and mount him but am always too affraid of messing him up. He is 28" from nose to tail.

This turkey kit is very east to assemble. Once you preserve the fan, and beard, you just inset them into the slots provided on the mount. The beard slide in and can be epoxied in place. I chose not to epoxy it in case i get a better bird. Still up in ther air if I am going to buy this mount for each turkey i get or if I will jsut build a beard holder to put underneath this mount. The white center feathers, and the fact that it was my first bird made me want to spring for a bit more pricey mount. Works for me.

Re: my first mount

I think if I get one next year I will go with this one. It also appears they have another one as well. At least I can get 3 and have each one look different.
