Turtle Shell

Here is a picture of the turtle shell I just finished from a 32 Pound Snapper I trapped last year....I left this shell outside for the bugs to feast off of for quite awhile, then I took all of the scales off of it, sanded it down a little to smooth it out, stained it with a little golden oak wood stain to bring out the color and lines and then put a little varnish on it for a shine....it turned out really nice. Just an idea for some of you guys.

Re: Turtle Shell

Looks good,kinda weathered.
Next time try leaving the scales on,you will get the nice deep color of the shell.

Re: Turtle Shell

Ive seen a lot of shells with the scales on - i wanted to try something different. I read an article a while back that included a picture that looked just like mine....I liked it so I thought Id give it a try. Something different.

Re: Turtle Shell

Nice work and some cool pics to go with it.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people asking questions.
