Crow mount questions

So my sister just informed me she is looking for a crow mount. She is an artist and lives in Philly, does not hunt, and knows no one to ask but her brother, me

So I have a few questions about a crow mount. Is there a way i can get one for her, as in purchase one. What is a fair price for one. And if buying one is not an option, what would be the average cost on having one mounted if I shot one and what could I expect for a time frame

Thanks, Paul

Re: Crow mount questions

There is one ending on Ebay in a couple minutes, also a real nice looking replica for decent price.

Re: Crow mount questions

Call Dave McBride at Mcbride's Taxidermy in Clearfield, Pa

I believe his phone # is (814) 765-3649

Last I knew, he had about a dozen mounted crows that he did for a guy that wanted them as decoys, and never picked them up.....he may or may not still have them, but its worth a shot....

Re: Crow mount questions

Caution is in order here on buying and selling crow mounts.
You might want to check with the Game Commission.
Crows come under the Federal Migratory Bird Regulations.
Pa. Game Commission sets the states seasons and regulations
within the federal migratory bird seasons and regulations
and under this, the sale of any such species is unlawfull.
Good luck though.

Re: Crow mount questions

You may not buy or sell any migatory birds, or offer same for sale. It is a federal crime to do so. If she needs a crow as a model for a painting she can go to a natural history museum to sketch or photograph or borrow a mount from someone to use.

Re: Crow mount questions

One of the main reasons migratory birds may not be sold, decorating market.

A dozen mounts to be used as decoys ? Those are gonna be some expensive decoys. The guy proably never considered picking them up once he heard the final price.
