HELP...where are my ears?

im pretty green into fur guys so i have a question...i just picked up my tanned cat hide that i shot this yr over a buddys dogs. how do you guys get the ears to fluff back up and stand up off of the face/head area? mine are stiff and rigid and tucked down in so to speak and i cant seem to get them to "reappear"...is this even possible?

i took the whole animal to a local reputible fur guy and he or his guys skinned it and then off it went to tannery if that makes a diff...THANKS!

Re: HELP...where are my ears?

If the ears don't push back out then u need to rehydrate the head with a little salt mixed in with lukewarm water and let soak 10-15 minutes then put the head in a plastic bag close tight let sweat overnight and that should let those ears come up

Re: HELP...where are my ears?

if you want the ears to stay up and sharp edged, maybe you could have a taxidermist just do the ears for you, bondo them or put ear liners in them, if it was tanned the way would need it.

Re: HELP...where are my ears?

like was said, for a wall hanging tanned pelt, many times the ears arent real nice unless you turn them or have them turned...

my coon have about no ears...i sent a fox to the same tannery and told them to turn the ears and they came out nice...

what happens is the cartlige and skin in the ears dried up during the tanning process...

im not a taxi so i cant help if it is fixable or not at this point...
