2012 PA Taxidermy show results
I got second place in the Professional division on my button buck, and my boyfriend and I won 2nd place in the collective artist's division with our 9 point buck pedestal mount. My boyfriend also entered his first mount and did very well (2nd place on both mount and habitat in amateur division) it was a great show and we already have ideas for next year. here are the hunt photos of each of our deer and the finished mount pics from the show.
The button buck was my first deer in 2B after acquiring permission on a new hunting property, and also the first kill with my new Hoyt Vicxen. I got him on September 19th and he had a very pretty cape with no imperfections so I decided he would make a nice clean competition mount.
The 9 point is my 2011 bowkill, also with the new bow and my first buck since 2005. so I wanted to do something special with him and make a floor pedestal for my showroom. I bought the log pedestal from a custom base builder in Montana. I got this buck on October 17th. My boyfriend Jared and I did this as a collective artist's piece for the show. I was glad to have him work on this project with me, he helped me put the base kit together, prep the deer form, and did the habitat work. He was also there with me on the evening I got this buck, and helped me call it in, sitting in his climber 25 yards away.

Here is Jared's first mount he entered in the competition, the button buck he got in 2011 gun season in 2B. He custom made the habitat from a fence post, barbed wire and rock mix.
