A HUGE thank you to HUNTINGPA.COM

I approached Rooster Booster a few months back about the possibility of HuntingPa sponsoring an award for the annual taxidermy competition, held at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show. This was my first year organizing anything like this, and I hope that those of you that saw the show, enjoyed seeing the pieces that the members of the Pennsylvania Taxidermy Association entered. John wanted to sponsor an award in the "Jr. Amateur" division, as it goes hand in hand with HuntingPA promoting youth in the outdoors. With that said, I was slightly disappointed with the number of youth entries at the show this year, usually there are several. My son Zach is 14, and has been practicing taxidermy since the age of 12, he mounted his second whitetail for the show this year. I am quite proud of him, as he got a second place ribbon, and won the HuntingPA award. This is my largest PA buck to date, and I took it back in 2002, I wasn't geting around to mounting it, so I figured I would let him mount my "trophy". I am quite happy with the results, the few things that the judge docked him on, arent' things that most people would even notice. Here is a picture of his entry, I will put a picture of him with his deer and HuntingPa award when I get them from my camera later this evening. Thank You again John, and HuntingPA for sponsoring this award for us, and I hope we have more youth participate next year !!

Very nice mount! I saw it at the show and thought it was beautiful!

Re: A HUGE thank you to HUNTINGPA.COM

Thank you Bob for approaching us with the ooportunity. Boy hearing the whole story behind the deer/mount really knocks home how much that deer mount must mean to you...being your biggest buck, and to have your son do the mount, then win some awards. VERY happy to be a part of all that, I truly am as is all of HPA I am sure.

And although I share some of your concern over the lack of youth entries for the show, I could not be happier to finally see what a wonderful piece won the award since I could not attend.

Consider this an annual thing for us for sure, and hopefully we can somehow help you grow the youth competition in the future for the good of it all. Getting youth involved does not end at just getting them into the woods on Saturdays and openers, it is building appreciation for the whole ten yards..from conservation down to respecting the meaning of a trophy animal thru taxidermy, they are all spokes on the very same wheel, one we must keep spinning.

PM me should you need similar support at the 7 springs show or any other such event. The cost is certainly worth the benefit and you have our continued support indefinitely when asked for it.

From all hunters who have that special day happen in the woods that they want to remember forever, I SAY THANK YOU to all those young and old practicing the Taxidermy arts that give us that trophy to take home and have forever. Much like hunting it sure has come a long way and takes the proper mentoring for the right results.

THANKS AGAIN!
John

You will definitely have a better youth showing at the state competition. Get ahold of Paul C on here if you would like more info.
Congrats on the nice mount!
