Cost for a coyote mount??

Was talking to deer hunter in the woods today who said he shot a coyote on the first day. He wanted to get it mounted but the guy he called said it would be at a minimum of $650 for the mount! Is that the going rate????

Re: Cost for a coyote mount??

That is about right for my shop.
Taxidermy today is very job specific.
I price every job indivdually.
I just priced and took in a coyote that ran well over $1000
Customer wanted open mouth, rabbit in the mouth, custom oak base and woods habitat.
Hard to give ballpark prices b/c people often hold you to the park when they really want a piece from the next zipcode.

Re: Cost for a coyote mount??

I paid $500 for a full body mount about 5-6 years ago.

Re: Cost for a coyote mount??

I posted this question on a few sites and the responses are inline with the ones here. I just didn't think it wold cost so much for a coyote mount.

Guess if I ever decide to get one mounted, I better keep the price from the wife.......or I'll be the next thing stuffed and mounted on the wall!

Re: Cost for a coyote mount??

If you look at it in comparison to a Whitetail shoulder mount you can put it into a little better perspective. We have nearly as much work in the shoulder to head of a coyote as we do the Whitetail shoulder mount. Then you have four legs with paws and a tail to deal with also. Then if you want habitat that is something a shoulder mount does not have either. There is a lot of work to be done when mounting any lifesize animal.

Re: Cost for a coyote mount??

Beag - that is the exact pose and base I am getting. Although, mine will be in a full howling pose.

It will run me $600.00

That's a nice mount!
